My name is Allin Frawley,
I am a licensed Construction Supervisor, and am employed as a lead carpenter for a local builder. I was raised in Lakeville, my wife Lorraine was raised in Middleboro, when we decided that we were going to get married and raise a family, we made the easy decision to return to Middleboro. That was about 3 1/2 years ago. Lorraine and I got married last summer and just had our first child, a beautiful little girl, Kennedy Frances, on March 10th.
I have been involved in the local political scene since I first moved here. At first it was because of the casino. My concern on that issue quickly evolved into an interest in all of the local issues. I have been attending the BOS meetings on a weekly basis for over two years now. I find that the BOS needs some new thought processes and some updated ideas, we cannot solve the problems facing our town with the same level of thinking that helped create them. I have attended The Zoning Board of Appeals, Historical commission, and the Conservation commission. I have also met with both, the Police Chief, and the Fire Chief.
I have served on the Open Space Planning Committee and the Charter Review Committee. Both have fostered an appreciation of the local natural resources and the local political process. I have also been a Committee Chairperson for the local Duck Unlimited chapter. I currently serve on the State Board of D.U. as the Southeast Director, and Recruitment Chair. I have a deep reverence of the outdoors and am lucky enough to live in such a beautiful town as Middleboro
My focus as a Selectman would be trying
to balance the budget without using one time revenues, expanding our
grant writing program, and most importantly, doing everything I can
as a Selectman and a private citizen, to get the Rt. 44 expansion finished
and a Rotary solution on the state's agenda.
We have a Police Department and a Fire Department that are operating
at levels from the 80's. The Fire Department has a good plan for expansion
of the Ambulance Service in Town that would put 16 Paramedics/Firefighters
on the force and allow the Town to open all of the Fire stations; the
Police Department is in desperate need of a new Headquarters and we
do have a Committee working on plans for a new Police Building, The
problem is we have no money to fund these projects.
Our schools are facing a layoff of
43 teachers without an override passing.
These are some of the issues that I care deeply about in town, not to mention making the process of town government more open and honest. Transparency is a word that gets thrown around a lot during an election, but seldom after the votes are counted. That will not be the case if I am elected. I have sat in those seats at the BOS and will not tolerate a lack of transparency. Our elected officials need to remember they work for the residents of the town; residents are not an annoyance, but the reason they are on the board.
If anyone, ever, has any questions
